Two enchanting medieval hillside towns in Tuscany await you, along
with boundless countryside scenery and traditional Tuscan cuisine.
On this historical excursion you will:
- Your motor coach will take you on your scenic 1½ hour
journey to San Gimignano, recently the landmark for the highly
successful movie Under the Tuscan Sun.
- Explore this beautiful town independently, viewing the
"Manhattan of Tuscany" skyline, bristling with a large number of
towers dating back to the 11th and 13th centuries.
- Enjoy a typical local meal in a nearby farmhouse before
heading off to beautiful Volterra, one of the finest, and lesser
known, hilltop towns tucked away in the heart of Tuscany. There
will be a short guided tour here, and also some free time.
- Idyllically set amidst an evocative landscape of soft
rolling hills and lush woodland abruptly defined by barren, deep
clay walled chasms, gullies and ravines, Volterra dominates and
divides the Cecina and Era Valleys.
- Visit the famous Piazza Dei Priori and get a close up of the
medieval walls, gates and renaissance palaces.
- Have free time be given in both towns, with the opportunity
to taste some local wine and to shop.
NOTE: Comfortable shoes, water and a sun hat are recommended.
